Laminated glass is composed of two or more pieces of glass with one or more layers of organic polymer interlayer sandwiched between them. After special high-temperature pre-pressure (or vacuuming) and high-temperature and high-pressure process, the glass becomes A composite glass product that is permanently bonded to an interlayer film.
Laminated glass is a widely used glass in the field of architectural glass, and is also called safety glass. Commonly used laminated glass films include: PVB and SGP.
PVB film has good safety, sound insulation, ultraviolet resistance, cold resistance, and impact resistance. However, PVB film has poor water resistance and is easy to peel off when exposed to moisture for a long time. It is currently the most widely used interlayer material for architectural glass and automotive glass.
SGP film has good toughness, strength, light transmittance, moisture resistance, bending resistance, aging resistance, and UV protection. SGP laminated glass is mainly used in glass lighting roofs, glass exterior windows, curtain walls, etc.
Performance comparison of PVB film and SGP film
1. Strength. The load-bearing capacity of SGP film laminated glass is 2 times that of PVB film laminated glass of the same thickness; the tear resistance strength is 5 times that of PVB film.
2. Bending resistance. Under the conditions of equal load and equal thickness, the bending deflection of SGP film is only 1/4 of that of PVB film. When the glass is broken, the bending deformation of SGP film laminated glass is small and it is not easy for the whole piece to fall.
3. Strong stability and moisture resistance. SGP film is colorless and translucent, has good weather resistance and is not prone to yellowing. The yellowing coefficient of SGP film is less than 1.5, while the yellowing coefficient of PVB film is 6~12, so SGP is mostly used in ultra clear laminated glass.
